Onye Onyemaechi’s lifework as a spiritual healer and counselor, teacher, mystic and renowned African master drummer began during his youth in Nigeria. He has inherited profound understandings regarding the power of natural healing through Divine providence and offers personal consults and group work.
His heart and spirit is enormous, his devotion is unrelenting, his desire to serve humanity wildly is alive in his soul and body.
In the African Judeo-Christain traditions of his Igbo people, the young Onye was rigorously trained in spiritual discipline and initiations through rituals and ceremonies. Over time he has blended his unique life experiences and abilities to transform the lives of those he encounters.
Onye brings the wisdom, joy and soul of African spirit, using the drum for healing and awaking, creating and celebrating communal grieving through the power of the drum and universal sound. He frequently adds the therapeutic effects of music to dispel destructive thoughts, attitudes and beliefs into positive patterns that can help unite the mind and body.
Onye is the founder Village Rhythms and Insights for Healing based in Northern California. Also, he is a band leader/ performer of Onye and the Messengers. His recently published book, The Drum: Voice of the Village, shares the story of the drum as the heartbeat of the people, and how we can use this capacity to improve ourselves now to affect personal and societal healing.
